The use of yerba mate has been growing over the past decade. It is one of the popular herbal tea produced from twigs of the Ilex paraguariensis plant. The reasons are many for its rapid adoption, but the most common is its ability to provide the body with a large number of healthy nutrients while helping to avoid the negative side effects of many traditional drugs. This has led many people to use Yerba Mate in the form of a dietary supplement. Yerba mate is a traditional South American drink but now it is gaining worldwide popularity.

The high demand for herbal tea that is rich in various nutrients such as antioxidants, vitamins, and amino acids is uplifting the market growth of yerba mate. Yerba mate increases mental energy and focus and also has a positive impact on metabolism thus aid in digestion by increasing production of bile and other gastric acids. Consumption of yerba mate also reduces the chances of arteriosclerosis which is again propelling the market growth. Four out of 5CVD deaths are due to heart attacks and strokes, and one-third of these deaths occur prematurely in people under 70 years of age.

North America is expected to gain significant growth over the forecast period and this is attributed to the high demand for herbal tea such as yerba mate in the region. According to the TeaUSA, in 2019, Americans consumed over 84 billion servings of tea or more than 3.8 billion gallons.
