Polyethylene (PE) is a man-made polymer comprising two chemical compounds, both of which are fluorescent properties. A combination of these two chemicals gives PE its other name, "phthalate". The high intensity, high bandwidth ultraviolet light (IPL) emitted from a cycloneroid light source having one of the other chemical pairs comprising naphthosides, thiophenes or phenol is employed for irradiation of solid film transmembrane (TVT) containing polyethylene. The thickness of the polymer film that is to be irradiated is selected so that the polarity of the emitting electron beam matches that of the electron flow that is present in the material. Polyethylene has low-temperature convergence and dispersion properties. It can be used as a substrate for many applications in heat transfer. It is also used as a catalyst for synthesizing most synthetic drugs and also as an oxidizer.
Increasing demand for packaged food & beverages, especially in Asia Pacific is expected to drive growth of the global polyethylene naphthalate market during the forecast period. The demand for packaged food & beverages has increased significantly, typically in Asia Pacific. This is owing to increasing working population, rising urbanization, and growing disposable income in emerging economies such as India, Japan, and China. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), in 2015, the Indian food processing sector was valued at US$ 258 billion. Polyethylene naphthalate is mainly used in packaging applications due to enhanced thermal and barrier properties namely resistance oxidation. Thus, these factors are expected to drive growth of the global polyethylene naphthalate market during the forecast period. Moreover, increasing demand from the automotive and electronics industry is expected to boost the global polyethylene naphthalate market growth over the forecast period.
However, high production cost and easy availability of alternatives are expected to restrain growth of the global polyethylene naphthalate market during the forecast period. Among regions, North America is expected to witness significant growth in the global polyethylene naphthalate market during the forecast period. This is owing to increasing demand for polyethylene naphthalate in the automotive and electronics sector in the region. Besides, rising use of high-performance rubber tires is expected to boost the regional market growth in the near future. Furthermore, Asia Pacific is expected to register a robust growth rate over the forecast period, owing to increasing demand from end-use industries such as automotive and packaging.
Key companies involved in the global polyethylene naphthalate market are Teijin DuPont Films, Seiwa Inc., Toray Monofilament Co., Ltd., DuPont, Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd., SASA Polyester Sanayi A.S, DuraFiber Technologies, Inc., and SKC Inc.
For instance, in April 2019, Teijin DuPont Films introduced a new depolymerization process that reuses utilized PET waste into innovative BOPET films suitable for various applications.
